Alice,
I do agree regarding the advantages of comments increasing the value of a blog. I also feel that it is a direct form of appreciation of the writer of the post. It clearly shows that the post was interesting enough to evoke a reader-response. I believe one should comment if one has something to share or if one agrees or disagrees with the post. I think most writer's are artists and artists love appreciation in the form of reader-response.

When I started blogging I thought I only wanted pleasant, kind, sweet comments. Then I realized it might not hurt to have ones that disagree!

As long as everyone is polite, I'm kind of hoping that someone comes along with a differing viewpoint and that others come along and take up sides. Wouldn't that be fun?

I think that comments that say, "Nice blog" are good, but I like the ones that let me know that the reader read my blog article and thought about what I said. Once in a while someone says, "you've inspired me..." and that makes me want to write more.

Thanks for your article!

Thanks Louise - there now, was that so terrible? It's a myth that you have to think of something clever to leave as a comment, anything decent will do, as long as it's more than just 'Nice blog'. Oh, and it really should be relevant to the subject of the post you are commenting on, or the moderator will just treat it as spam.

I don't know if I qualify for 'everybody else' but here goes! One of the things that stops me from commenting more often on blogs is that I believe I have to write something really 'clever', when all I can think of doing is agreeing with a well written post that echoes my sentiments.

Thanks Alice for reminding me that I need to get over myself and just get commenting!
